You know how there is always that one person with something negative to say? The sun could be shining, the grass still wet with dew, and these fools would still say, “It’s cold.” 🙃
That has been me and I have had a hard time shaking it. Now don’t get me wrong, I talked about Jesus’ Radical Authenticity at the beginning of the week. He told his people when he was hurting. Please be vocal and authentic with your people, always, but please do not get so fixated on the pain that you forget to see the good.
Watching the people whom raised me, grow sick, and eventually pass in such a short time changed me. That is what life experiences do, they change us. It is up to us to let those experiences consume every ounce of our being or to heal from the trauma life throws our way.
I am learning that it is how we handle life’s curve balls and how we tend to ourselves that determines how we weather a storm. There is a choice to rise victorious over the trials and tribulations of this life or to be swept under by the current, and friend, I pray you rise.
“Your eyes are windows into your body. If you open your eyes wide in wonder and belief, your body fills up with light. If you live squinty-eyed in greed and distrust, your body is a dank cellar. If you pull the blinds on your windows, what a dark life you will have!
Matthew 6:22-23 MSG
Our words create worlds and if we want a life rich in abundance and peace we have to stop speaking drear and dread. Let me tell you right now, I got DARK in the midst of this. I was a living, breathing, Hawthorne Heights album. We have to stop only surrounding ourselves with “woe is me” voices and start listening to the ones actually speaking life into us.
Where is your mind at today? Can I please encourage you to turn off your 15th true crime documentary and instead do something that fuels your soul? (I’m literally just talking to myself here.) Whatever that is for you- just do it. The world needs more of you in it but we need you whole first. ❤️
